Tonon detailed his training for Thanh Le; While mentioning his training partners, including UFC fighter Andre Fili, Tonon also revealed that he had the opportunity to train with flashy kickboxer Raymond Daniels. Also, he remembers the practice session with Daniels for a particular reason.

“I had a good sidekick turning to the liver, which was great during the fight. Some workouts are better than others,” said Tonon.

Although the New Jersey native has brought different sparring partners, he knows the fight would be different.

“Of course, just like Thanh mentioned, it’s never a perfect replica of the person you’re going to fight, but yeah, we did our best.” he added.

This fight is a classic example of the battle between attacker and grappler. So both fighters will be looking to keep the fight in their sphere and secure victory.

Fight Breakdown: Thanh Le vs. Garry Tonon

Since both fighters are specialists in what they do, the recipe for their success is no secret. Thanh Le would look to stay on the outside as Tonon presents close range threats. Le has a very effective blocking game, which would come in handy, in case Tonon fires a careless takedown.

Importantly, Lee said he was not looking to test his skills on the ground with the multiple Jiujitsu World Champion. So Le might not pounce on the ground-and-pound opportunity and look to get up, in case Tonon pulls the guard, aiming for the leg locks.

In conclusion, distance management and cage control will be key for both fighters. Whoever is able to dictate where the fight will take place will raise their hand to ONE: LIGHTS OUT.
