Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School

Pupils at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Majitha performed well in CBSE Class X and XII exams. The best of the school, Parvetan Singh, scored 97% in the Class XII exams. Manjot Kaur came second with 96%. In Class X, Akashdeep Singh was top with 98.2% marks, followed by Nehman Kaur (97%). Webinar for entrepreneurs

Amritsar: DAV College’s Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) hosted a webinar here on “Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs”. Dr Sonia Chawla, Head of Department of Humanities and Management, Dr BR Ambedkar NIT, Jalandhar was the resource person. The Director of the College and President of the IIC, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, welcomed the keynote speaker and highlighted the need and importance of entrepreneurs in a rapidly growing industrialized world. Dr. Sonia said that entrepreneurs play a vital role in the economic development of the country as they serve as catalysts in the industrialization process. In addition to creating jobs and innovating, entrepreneurial companies seek to meet customer needs and improve livelihoods. Entrepreneurs provide solutions to the shortcomings of the market economy using organizational skills such as planning, coordination and control. Entrepreneurship’s contribution to the economy requires that small businesses contribute to employment, innovation, competition, and social and political stability. She also discussed the Center’s and state government’s significant investment programs for start-ups and encouraged students and faculty members to take advantage of these programs.

Bhavan’s children win medals

Students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan SL Public School have won several medals in district level karate competition and state open fencing championship. A total of 25 students of the institute took part in the karate competitions, of which eight won gold, 10 won silver and seven got bronze medals in the tournament in different categories. Class II Aditya Sharma won a silver medal at the Open State Fencing Championship held in Patiala. He was also selected for the national fencing championship to be held in Nasik, Maharashtra.

Trials for the Khalsa College team

Tryouts for the Khalsa College boys’ hockey team will be held July 29 at 9 a.m. at the Guru Nanak Dev University Hockey Field. Giving information in this regard, Khalsa College Principal Dr. Mahal Singh said fee waiver, free mess and other concessions would be given to the selected players. He said interested players should show up at 9 a.m. with their original certificates. Dr Singh said for further information, the college’s sports officer, Dr Daljit Singh, could be contacted.

Students shine in Class X results

Students at St Soldier Elite Convent School in Chawinda Devi town scored well in the CBSE Class X exams. The school’s overall result was 100% and six students scored above 90%. Sukhmanpreet Kaur topped the lot with 96% rating, Mandeep Kaur took second position with 95.8% and Anwerjit Kaur reached third position with 94.6% rating. A total of 19 students obtained between 80% and 90% of the marks. Some students achieved 100% marks in Mathematics, Science and Punjabi. They got 99% in English, 98 in computer science and 86 in social studies. The Principal of the school, Dr. Mangal Singh Kishanpuri congratulated everyone and attributed this excellent achievement to Principal Amandeep Kaur, students, teachers and parents.
