Sweeps Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wautoma, makes it to the podium at the BJJ tournament

On May 28, 16 members of Sweeps Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) from Wautoma traveled to Wisconsin Dells to participate in a BJJ tournament hosted by Grappling Industries at Just A Game Fieldhouse.

More than 915 competitors from Wisconsin and beyond entered the round robin style martial arts tournament. There were 12 different grapplers from Sweeps who finished on the podium in Gi and No Gi competition.

Most competitors have had an average of six fights while some have had as many as 11 fights with 20 opponents in their division, which makes the podium even more impressive. By the end of the tournament, the sweeps team had won a total of five gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals.

Sweeps BJJ Academy is coached by Wautoma native Efrain Rodriguez and his wife Danyce from Ohio.
