June 19, 2022 – Porec is about to host the World Karate Federation! Generally considered a popular summer vacation destination in Istria, Porec is also known as “a town with a millennial history”. This year, the city is looking forward to the spectacular second tournament of the World Karate Federation Youth League of the Croatian Karate Union.

After an extremely triumphant event last year, Porec will once again host the championship. Despite the global coronavirus pandemic and all the problems it has caused, the organizers are delighted to host a bigger and more successful event to be held between the 1st and 3rdrd of July this year.

The tournament will be held at the Intersport sports hall and recreation center in Porec, and the organizers hope to break the world record for the number of competitors and simultaneously raise the overall quality level of the tournament.

For six days, ambitious karatekas (karate students) will have the opportunity to learn and train with world-class athletes and renowned coaches at the pre-tournament training camp. The 2022 youth camp will be open to receive competitors and athletes between the ages of 10 and 20. There are over 500 youngsters from 36 countries who have signed up for the training camp as it stands, which bodes very well.

Originally held in Umag, the training camp and tournament have been moved to accommodate the overwhelming number of athletes expected to take part in these events for the second consecutive year.

The Youth Karate League Tournament has been designed to highlight the influence of karate on young people around the world, and the tournament will highlight athletes who aim to achieve higher positions in their International World Federation Rankings of karate. This league aims to become a platform to develop the skills of these young athletes and their sports career with maximum progression to full potential.

Since the 2020 Olympics in Japan, and with the growing interest of young people in the sport, it is more than inspiring to see that the organizers of the event are taking extra measures to ensure that competitors participate in a experience they will never forget.
